3D animation showing how retina could be used as a window to the brain
Preclinical proof of concept of retinal functional ultrasound (rfUS) imaging for assessing neurovascular coupling alterations non-invasively. Neurovascular coupling alterations could be early markers of neurodegenerative diseases. As ultrasound does not cross the skull so easily, we explore the use of the retina as a functional window to the brain. We demonstrate this on rat models of Alzheimer's disease.
